The effort is in response to the devastating impact Hurricane Matthew had on the country on October 4.
The soldiers will travel on a United States C130 Heracles military aircraft (provided by the US Embassy) which arrived in Jamaica on October 18.

It says in Haiti, JDF personnel will assist with the distribution of supplies and also make preparation for further support to the nation State.
The shipment contains quantities of food supplies, water, infant products and tarpaulins.
ODPEM says items were procured with funding through the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and pprocurement, management and logistics services were provided by them.
The initiative is being coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Ministry of Local Government and Community Development, The Jamaica Customs Agency, The Airports Authority of Jamaica, Jamaica Defence Force, Jamaica Constabulary Force, US Embassy (Kingston) and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).
